Charles Alexander Runte (“Chaz”), died unexpectedly on January 23, 2023, at his home in Pleasantville, New Jersey. He was only 39 years old. The family is deeply saddened and shocked by his sudden death. Chaz was born on October 18, 1983, in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, to Charles and Angella (nee Foster) Runte.
Chaz was predeceased by his father, Charles Runte, (“Chucky”).
Chaz is survived by his mother, Angella (Collin) Smith; siblings, Vanburn (Anetra) Rodgers, Margeaux Castiglioni-Runte, Charmaine Runte, Daniel Smith, Armand Runte, and Gabrielle Runte.
His memory will be cherished by close friends whom he considered “family”.His memory lives on with his nieces and nephews.
Chaz spent his early years in Jamaica with his mother, father, big brother and sister. The family later moved to southern New Jersey where Chaz spent most of his life. He was raised in the catholic faith and a member of St. Joseph’s Catholic Church in Somers Point, New Jersey.
Chaz was a skilled carpenter who spent many years on his craft renovating residential and commercial projects. He obtained an Associate degree in Business Administration from Atlantic Cape Community College.
He had a fun personality and was well liked by everyone, mostly due to his positive energy and kind spirit. His legacy will carry on forever reminding us to cherish our loved ones.
There are no words that can express how grateful and blessed we are to his friends who were there for us at the discovery of his passing. The family is forever grateful to his dear friends and the South Jersey Community for her invaluable support and for surrounding Chaz in love in his last months.
There will be a visitation held on Friday, February 10, 2023, 5:00 - 7:00pm, at Jennings Funeral Home, 501 South New Road, Pleasantville, New Jersey. Mass of Christian Burial will be held at St. Joseph Roman Catholic Church, 606 Shore Rd, Somers Point, New Jersey on Saturday, February 11, 2023. Visitation at the church will be from 9:30 am to 10:45 am, followed by Mass at 11:00am. The burial will follow at Holy Cross Cemetery, 5061 Harding Highway, Mays Landing, New Jersey.
